Trauma
Trauma is a huge challenge not just for returning combat vets but for many others in our violence plagued culture. Symptoms might include sleep difficulties, poor appetite, hyper-arousal, depression, relationship difficulties (inability to establish/maintain intimacy) , substance abuse, and social isolation.
If you have experienced a traumatic event in your life that continues to haunt you, therapy, particularly somatic and mindfulness based therapy, has been proven to provide effective healing.
I draw on my many years of experience in child protective services, my zen practice, as well as my volunteer work with The Soldiers’ Project to assist clients with this difficulty.
